birds and cats don’t mix

My kitchen is one of my favorite placed in the house, not only because I enjoy baking & cooking, but because of the three bird feeders outside the window.  I try and fill these regularly with sunflower seeds, seems to be the seed of choice for the birds (and squirrels) around here. Recently I filled two of the feeders with a finch seed mix (thistle and other seeds), I would like to be able to say the new seed is a big hit, however I can not.  Perhaps it is too early to tell, hopefully the birds will discover it soon.

I mentioned cats, yes- I have two.  I love my cats, sadly the birds do not.  My cats are getting old, they don’t bring me ‘gifts’ anymore, but the feeders remain vacant when the cats are around.

This little chickadee was coming and going for a short period of time yesterday when I snapped his picture.

This is a beautiful shot. The depth of field really makes the bbird feeder and chickadee pop. And the color of the leaves give a really nice feel to the photograph. Good job.

  5. Love the picture of the birdfeeder and chickadee. I especially love the green leaves in the background. How I long for the signs of spring in Minnesota. Everything is overcast lately so there is not much color in my pictures these days.

I just put up a new feeder this past week and the birds have finally found it. Here is a link to my photos in Minnesota if you are interested in looking.

    • thanks for the link, I have seen your blog before- love the lights in the fog picture. Sure looks cold there…it is getting cold here this week, we are finally getting some winter weather (minus the snow), highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s. Glad you stopped by and liked the picture. -Kim
